Sampling data captured in Oceanic Exploration Research 2015 was the last full year of activities under the polymetallic nodule exploration contract due to expire on 19 June 2016. The year was marked by the activities and work carried out under the third five-year programme of activities, as well as the preparation of the new five-year programme of activities proposed in the application for extension of an approved plan of work for exploration for polymetallic nodules submitted to the International Seabed Authority on 16 December 2015 in accordance with the modalities set forth in decision ISBA/21/C/19.
