A tropical Australian refuge for photosymbiotic benthic fauna, Bonaparte Archipelago, Western Australia (2016)

OBIS Australia MeasurementOrFact Open in mapper Explore occurrences

In 2015/2016, anomalous sea temperatures associated with the El Nino period triggered a pan-tropical episode of coral bleaching which included the Kimberleys. To investigate the effect of this bleaching event, Intertidal and subtidal surveys were conducted at 11 sites within the Bonaparte Archipelago at two platform reefs and five fringing reefs from September 16 to 21, 2016. Subtidal sites were surveyed on SCUBA at 12 m depth. Mid-to-lower littoral reef flats were surveyed by reef walking at low tide. Data from cited paper and accessed on 2022-06-20
