MedOBIS Open in mapper Explore occurrences

This abstract introduces a database focused on the nesting behavior of the yellow-legged gull, employing the transect method in Kuriat's protected marine and coastal area during April 2022. The database aims to systematically document and analyze nesting patterns, offering crucial insights into the ecological dynamics of yellow-legged gull populations within this specific habitat. This research, conducted as part of the Medfund project by the Notre Grand Bleu Association and the Coastal Protection and Management Agency (APAL), contributes significantly to the comprehension of the avian ecosystem, facilitating targeted conservation initiatives within the protected area. The monitoring approach involves utilizing the transect counting method, wherein a 50-meter transect is established using a rope, and the number of nests and eggs per nest are recorded This methodology serves the broader goal of providing a comprehensive overview of the breeding avifauna and its geographical distribution.
