A new species of the spongicolid genus Spongicola, S. liosomatus sp. nov. is described and illustrated based on three male specimens and one female specimen collected from off northern Blanquilla Island, Venezuela, Caribbean Sea at a depth of 135–160 m, representing the first species of the genus found in the Atlantic Ocean.
