Trinidad and Tobago deep sea biodiversity data sourced from literature, cruise reports and institute collection records

This dataset is a darwin core archive of biodiversity data, both specimen occurrence and observation records from Trinidad and Tobago, which accompanies the following publication: Jaime-Leigh Lue Chin, Muriel Rabone, Juliano Palacios-Abrantes, Judith Gobin, Alana Jute, La Daana K. Kanhai, Diva J. Amon. A Baseline Assessment of Deep-Sea Biodiversity, and Guide for Future Actions to Inform Stewardship, in Trinidad and Tobago. Discover Oceans. In press. These data have not previously been available on OBIS, and comprise records from the literature, cruise reports, and the records of the Trinidad and Tobago University of the West Indies’ Zoology Museum Collection and the Institute of Marine Affairs’ Marine Reference Collection. Cruise reports include those from the R/V Pillsbury, obtained from the University of Miami’s library, and the R/V Dr. Fridtjof Nansen, sourced from the Norwegian Institute of Marine Research. Additionally, records from the sample list for the E/V Nautilus NA054 expedition were included. Literature records were also sourced from: Amon et al. 2017; Olu et al., 2017; Sibuet et al., 1998.
