Colección Brachiopoda del Museo de Historia Natural Marina de Colombia – Makuriwa (Invemar)

El Museo de Historia Natural Marina de Colombia que hace parte del Instituto de Investigaciones Marinas y Costeras Invemar, custodia entre su material biológico la Colección de Brachiopoda. Esta fue creada en el año 2009 a partir de ejemplares obtenidos principalmente durante la expedición Corales de profundidad-Marcoral realizada en el año 2005 y unos pocos lotes de las expediciones previas de Macrofauna I (1997) y II (2001), ambas llevadas a cabo por parte de este Instituto en el Caribe colombiano. A partir de la revisión taxonómica de ese material Rojas-Briceño et al. (2009) realizaron unos primeros registros para el país y derivado de su revisión, se organizó el material disponible alcanzando unos 53 lotes con los cuales se inicia la colección. En el año 2017, posterior al traslado del Museo a la nueva sede del Invemar, se logró consolidar la colección con la asignación de un espacio específico para el grupo. Actualmente, la colección catalogada cuenta con 96 lotes del Caribe colombiano, obtenidos entre los 0.2 y los 3194 m de profundidad sobre fondos blandos de la plataforma y el margen continental, mayoritariamente en inmediaciones del área de Corales del Rosario y San Bernardo. Los registros biológicos correspondientes a este material catalogado se encuentra incluidos en el presente recurso, el cual fue documentado a partir del proceso de curaduría y catalogación efectuado en 2023 durante el desarrollo del proyecto BID-CA2020-055-NAC. The Marine Natural History Museum of Colombia, which is part of the Marine and Coastal Research Institute Invemar, holds among its biological material the Brachiopoda Collection. This was created in 2009 from specimens obtained mainly during the Deep Corals - Marcoral expedition in 2005 and a few lots from the previous expeditions of Macrofauna I (1997) and Macrofauna II (2001), both carried out by this Institute in the Colombian Caribbean. Based on the taxonomic review of this material, Rojas-Briceño et al. (2009) made the first records for the country and, as a result of their review, the available material was organised, reaching some 53 lots with which the collection was started. In 2017, after the Museum moved to the new Invemar headquarters, the collection was consolidated with the allocation of a specific space for the group. Currently, the catalogued collection has 96 lots from the Colombian Caribbean, obtained between 0.2 and 3194 m depth on soft bottoms of the shelf and the continental margin, mostly in the vicinity of the area of Corales del Rosario and San Bernardo. The biological records corresponding to this catalogued material are included in the present resource, which was documented from the curation and cataloguing process carried out in 2023 during the development of the BID-CA2020-055-NAC project for the strengthening of the collections.
