Abstract: These data were collected during local (5-8 hour) whale watching trips conducted by the Viking Fleet and CRESLI. Trips originated from Montauk Harbor in Montauk, New York and occurred regularly from 1997-2002 and again from 2009 - present, during July, August and early September. The data were collected during efforts to gather information about the distribution, abundance, habitat use and site fidelity of cetaceans in the waters around Montauk, New York. The general public were educated, and volunteers were involved in collecting data, as citizen scientists. The data are maintained by CRESLI and are submitted to appropriate catalogs when possible.
